CAV Japan today announced [JP] iPod speakers designed like Hello Kitty, the dream cartoon cat of millions of teenage girls. The maker says the speaker dock comes with “Surface Mounting Technology” and “Lossless Energy Amplification Technology” for 360° sound, but the design is the main selling point in this case. Here’s a promo video (in Japanese): The 2.5W×2ch+6W speaker features 60Hz ~ 20kHz frequency response and comes with a remote control (but users can also touch Kitty’s ears to adjust the volume). The funny thing with the pinball machine is it has enjoyed more longevity than most game consoles. In fact, the iconic arcade staple has been shrunken down to accommodate an iPhone as part of New Potato’s attempt at revitalizing the art form. Officially dubbed Pinball Magic, this cheeky bit of gamesmanship has just been released and will no doubt cause many pinball devotees to succumb in an instant. Best suited in conjunction with its official pinball app, Pinball Magic adds that extra touch of miniaturized realism with its foldable legs and assorted buttons. These include flippers, a ball-launching plunger and a LED ...

pdf patch

Apple (finally) released iOS 4.0.2 and iOS 3.2.2 firmware to patch the PDF exploit, the very large security holes exploited by @comex in the 2nd incarnation of jailbreakme.com. The only problem is they outright abandoned iPhone 2G and iPod Touch 1G users! and on the other hand iOS 4.0.2, 3.2.2 is NOT jailbreakable ATM which means all other iDevices running iOS 4.0.1 or lower are still vulnerable. Even though Apple acknowledges in their security update the severity of these holes, they left iPhone 2G and iPod Touch 1G owners high and dry — completely vulnerable to truly malicious variants of jailbreakme ...

The AcuTouch 9500, which will be available later this year, is basically a normal massage chair until its paired with the HT Connect app for iPhone/iPad/iPod. The app first performs an "acupoint detection" to figure out the location of your optimal massage points based on your body build. When I write about Apple, I do my best to lay out some historical data and discuss where we came from as it helps put things in perspective for whatever I’m about to rant or rave about. There have been way too many times where I complain about the price of a machine and soon realize it’s actually cheaper than the last generation model. I wish meaningless facts like the viewing angle of Apple’s 23″ Apple Cinema Display and the price of the Dual 500Mhz PowerMac G4 were just stuck in my head, but they’re not. I cheat quite a bit ...
