ipad sushi menu Restaurant Self Ordering System Using The iPad. Death Of Printed Menus? [video]

An iPad menu designed to fully replace the hard-copy multi-page laminated sushi menus commonly found in izakayas in Japan. The design of the app closely mimics the chaotic, brightly-colored, and cluttered aesthetic of the print version, except it’s, you know, interactive! Pinch to zoom! Order wirelessly! The future! In your belly! It’s part of a point of sale (POS) ordering system that integrates ordering, billing, and checkout. [via eater] [ via FSMdotCOM ]

While the iPad fits a niche between an iPhone and a laptop, I’m still having trouble thinking of it as a truly mobile platform. Sure, it’s light and portable for easy touring, but I recall Fender once marketed the very-bulky Fender Twin Reverb in the same way. Instant messaging apps on the iPad underscore the fact that the iPad is more likely to stay in my bag than be used while out and about. Very rarely do I have a serious conversation via IM, and I tend to use it as a form of text messaging while I’m on the train ...

Libox is a peer-to-peer application that scans all the media on your primary computer (photos, videos, music) and then streams it to other devices with a Libox app or browser. You can see all your photos, and play all your videos, and even listen to your entire music collection. It is all streamed from your laptop, which acts as a server. It does require some set-up. First, you must download the desktop app from Libox, which scans your computer for all your media (photos, videos, music). This can take a while, and of you have a lot of ...

I knew all along that the iPad would turn out to be an amazing device, but a blimp controller with integrated cockpit view? No, I didn’t think of that. The guys over at BreakfastNY.com have created a modified BlimpDuino which is controlled by the iPad’s accelerometer through a custom software which connects to a built in computer. The iPad thus becomes the real controller which also displays what the blimp sees via an attached front camera.- Quoted from MacStories - (Source: MacStories) Please follow @chrisdata on Twitter!

Netatalk is a free and open source implementation of Apple Talk for Unix devices which, basically, lets you use Apple’s standard file sharing between a Mac and an iPhone, in the Finder. Whilst in my $2 Staples stand dock thing, my iPad virtually does nothing as it recharges for the morning. Cup of coffee and keyboard in hand, I often pondered the ways it could make me more productive or more informed before its later afternoon usage. Enter Tweet Flow (tweet Flow? tweetFlow?), a pretty great iPad Twitter client that’s excellent for displaying recent tweets in big text.Tweet Flow, while I would say it has an inconsistent UI, features some pretty nifty visual effects. For one, the background changes based on whether it’s night or day in your timezone. If you’re viewing ...

The pun is so obvious it practically insults your intelligence, but we just can't help ourselves -- the iPad has just gotten a little more magical. Using the BTstack application that brought Bluetooth mouse support to iPhone, enterprising individuals discovered the same technique works on a jailbroken iPad as well, and hooked up Apple's own Magic Mouse to show it off to the world. Mind you, while this implementation does look quite useful, we do detect the barest hint of lag -- so it may not be your weapon of choice for pixel-doubled Doom sessions. - Quoted from Engadget - (Source: Engadget) Please ...

The iPad accessories are flying in thick and fast, with the Quirky Cradle being the latest replacement for...your lap? It features a circular plate which rotates the iPad; certainly a nice touch and makes the $52.50 a lot more reasonable. Made from bamboo, it's lightweight and won't be cramping your thighs as the underside has a foam cushion for added comfort. But then, you may as well just balance a pillow on your lap—though admittedly the circular plate could be handy for rotating your iPad if someone else is using the iPad at the same time. Though then that person would ...
