While we won't be able to play until the servers go live, our copy of the StarCraft 2 Collector's Edition has arrived. This version of the game will cost $100, which is $40 more than the standard game. It comes packed with a ton of extras, both real and virtual. We're going to give you a look at what comes in the box to let you know if we think it's worth the extra cost. Nice Unboxing Video of StarCraft II Collector's Edition by IGN. The box itself is heavy cardboard, and the picture we snapped shows how it looks when partially ...

The folks at Blizzard are pretty good at making pre-rendered cinematic sequences. It's kind of a thing they do. Indeed, the latest StarCraft 2 trailer -- unlocked by fans at the Dominion website -- is filled to the brim with awe-inspiring, dramatic stuff. Entitled "Ghosts of the Past," it recaps some of the first game's plot (focusing on the fate of Sarah Kerrigan) and unveils what's at stake in the sequel. [ via Joystiq [PlayStation] ]

We've all seen movies in which a down-and-out athlete beats the odds to win. That's pretty much the plot of every sports film, it seems, though Rocky IV is probably my favorite example. Videogames are slowly starting to emerge as competitive sporting events. So, where is our inspirational tale of plucky underdogs who come together to defeat an unstoppable opponent? Here's a good start. This mock trailer for Sunday Night Starcraft blends together just about every cliché moment you can imagine from sports films with a heavy dollop of dorkiness.  Funny stuff. My favorite moment is when the main character finds himself trying ...

Starcraft 2

After being 12 years in development Starcarft II is nearly with us and as you can expect expectations for the new game are a slightly high to say the least. Activision Blizzard has invested more than $100 million into the development of the sequel and to invest so much into a PC & Mac based game could be seen as a little strange when most publishers target the console based cash cow market for returns. Bobby Kotick, Activision’s CEO  last month described StarCraft as one of the company’s seven “pillars of opportunity” with each pillar having the potential to deliver operating profit between ...

It's hard to believe, but after over a decade's wait Starcraft II is finally upon us. It's something Blizzard is only too happy to remind us of with this cinematic commercial for the game. While most - maybe even all - of this clip is comprised of footage from previous trailers, it's still a sight to behold seeing it all running together like this. For all its prowess as a games developer, it's easy to forget Blizzard also has some of the best animation people alive, and that includes the movie business. Good to see the Mac crowd are no longer a ...

(Aggregated from Kotaku) If there were ever two things made for each other, that would be real-time strategy game and South Korea. They love each other so much it hurts. The game is hugely popular in South Korea — and has been for some time. Korean Air is sponsoring the OnGameNet StarCraft League this spring, and the date in this ad refers to that league! The ads range from the humorous (above) to a documentary-style look at professional gamers like NaDa (aka Lee Yun-Yeol) as they travel and play. These ads also serve as a good primer for StarCraft II, which is ...

StarCraft II Special Edition Launching For 0

With the release date for the first installment of StarCraft II being revealed in the coming weeks, Blizzard shows off the StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty Collector's Edition, complete with art book, soundtrack CD, and in-game World of Warcraft pet. Speaking as a World of Warcraft player who isn't very good at StarCraft, including a mini Thor in-game pet inside every copy of the StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty Collector's Edition just isn't fair. It's bad enough the set contains The Art of StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty, a 176-page art book filled with illustrations and concept art that should make ...
